The unique (Patent pending) design of the Invacare® Softform® Premier Active features an alternating air insert beneath the castellated foam of the tried and trusted Softform® Premier mattress. The mattress retains its properties as a 'High/Very High Risk' (Waterlow score - 20)* static surface, but should a patient require stepping up to a dynamic surface, a discreet pump can be fitted to the air insert, transforming the mattress into an alternating surface delivering additional levels of pressure relief. There is no requirement to move the patient, thereby minimising any discomfort
The Invacare® Softform® Premier Active offers a unique and innovative 'Step Up/Step Down' approach, which avoids the need to replace a complete mattress system, therefore ensuring minimal disruption to the user. The insert consists of air cells that alternate on a ten minute cycle beneath the foam insert, delivering a very low impact at the point of change, thereby delivering high levels of comfort in addition to improved pressure reduction. The Softform® Premier Active is particularly suitable for those who may find a more traditional dynamic system, unpleasant, due to movement and vibration.
Sensory software within the pump can gauge patient weight enabling pressure to be maintained at an appropriate level. The pump is alarmed in case of power failure. In addition the top layer of the 'High/Very High Risk' castellated foam ensures the user is fully supported in the event of a power failure.
This item carries a manufacturers warranty against manufacturing defects - Foam-8 years, Cover 4 years, Pump 2 Years, Insert 2 Years
Max User Weight - 247.5kg (39st)
* Essential nursing care is pivotal in pressure ulcer prevention. This mattress will positively contribute to the outcome of a pressure ulcer prevention care plan. Education, clinical judgement and action based planning based on vulnerability are fundamental factors in the prevention of pressure ulcers. The Waterlow score is a formal method of assessing risk from pressure ulcer development, and should be used in conjunction with an informal assessment (informed nursing judgement). Informal assessment is considered to be of greater importance and clinical value.
